Internet Safety for Children & Teens – What Parents Should Know

A child should never know more than a parent does about the internet. At the very least, you should know about the same. If you are looking to block adult websites or websites that have offensive language, it will not do you any good if your teenager knows ways to get around the parental controls that you set. That is why it is important that you know how to use a computer and the internet or learn if you don’t know.
A very interesting article found on this website. This is only the intro. Just read the line that I have bold. This shows that parents should know about internet. This is generation Y. Parents should expose themselves as to catch up with this new generation We are the generation, right? It is more interesting because this article also look at Reasons Why the Internet Can Be Dangerous for Children and Teens and What to Do If Your Child Runs Into Trouble Online
Such an interesting topic. I have read this topic. If you notice, in our previous discussion we discuss about the dangers of internet.I think the issue is the same.(A1C)
ReplyDeleteA1A: Yes, I noticed that.Just that this article is more detail. And I think our parent should read this article so that they can monitor us (OMG...am I really give this suggestion :::::)))))
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHHAAAAA...I am impressed with your suggestion. (A1C)
ReplyDeleteI don't believe myself too ;) (A1A)
ReplyDeleteA1D>>>>>>>> Indeed I am impressed with your suggestion. After I read the article, I realised why should our parents read it.The problems that they may face:
ReplyDelete1. My parents know English very little. (I have to translate this to BM...Can Google Translate help me here???)
2.They have never use computer. (My mum is a housewife and my father is a labour)
3. I will never tell my password to them if they know to use computer. (hulalalaaaaa........)
I agree with you:
ReplyDelete1. Yes..my parents too know only little English.
2. Just like you...they never use computers, not even fb
3. Password? It's a NEVVVEEERRR EVEERRRRR :)

Girls...I love the discussion and I know now how my kids feel when they are asked to give me their password for fb and twitter. I think as parents not that we want to control you guys but we just want to monitor, just like what is being highlighted in the article "Parents should know more than the kids about computer)

ReplyDeleteTEEAAACCCHHHEEERRRR...gud nite...how's your holiday? (A1B)
ReplyDeleteGirls..wishing me good night means that you are going to sleep now. Holiday? Not really. I had to go to UUM for a course, then I went to Shah Alam for my friend's wedding. Quite hectic.
ReplyDeleteCome back to our discussion., why actually you will not give your password to your parents? (T'cer)
HAHAHAHAA cher, I bet you know why. We are teenagers, we have a lot of things to do, I don't think they will understand. It's a "NNNOOOO" >>A1D
ReplyDeleteA1C: Teacher, let's be our secret, if not they will be angry at us. (We don't do bad things, but we want some space). I will say NO too.
ReplyDeleteCher, you take your kids' passwords. OMG, that's cruel. (don,t be angry cher, just kidding) A1C
ReplyDeleteGirls, we mean no harm dear, we do that because we love you.
ReplyDeleteA1B: I know they care, but it's still "NO". It's like our world that I don't think my parents will understand.
ReplyDeleteA1C>>>>cher, honestly, I still think that I need the space for me and my friends without my parents interference. Hmmmm, I know they love me but I think, let my fb and twitter and even my personal blog be my world, not for them to know.
ReplyDeleteThis is issue is getting hotter :)), teacher vs students; adults vs teenagers (A1A)
ReplyDeleteI rest my case for tonight girls, keep on reading and discussing. You are doing good. Remember, there is no right or wrong answer to any issue, we just discuss and practice our language.
